Charlie

We had been talking about getting a puppy for a while, when I heard a radio commercial advertising an 8mo. old Lab mix named Charlie for adoption. I decided that was the day to look into the local animal shelters and see what was available. I went to a couple of different shelters before I went to the SPCA in Dallas and found the sweetest dog. It turned out to be the same Charlie from the radio. Since adopting him, Charlie has been more than a companion to me and my family. Charlie loves to hike and go for car rides. He won last year’s Halloween costume contest, and has been to various different places from the mall, to church, to schools, and even goes to work with me from time to time. Yesterday, 9.24.11 I had him tested to become a therapy dog. He passed and we are all so very proud. Charlie was rescued and now, he will be able to give back the love to children and elders in hospitals who otherwise might not have anything to look forward to. Having Charlie in our lives has been (and will continue to be) the most rewarding friendship I have ever known. He is more than a pet, or a family dog….he is a best friend, a social butterfly, and now will be a friend to people who just need a smile. I wish for all families to have the happiness we have been given. I also plan to start a small campaign at our local SPCA to support the education of pet ownership. We love our Charlie more than we could ever say.
